Artist Residence Syracuse, Sicily

The building site is located close to the old lighthouse of Syracuse, Italy. The secluded and peaceful nature of this area led me to design an artists residence and gallery. Detached Gallery building next to the existing Light House is presenting locally created art to the public.Artists residence & hotel are located nearby above the sea coast. It is formed of two elongated parallel prisms which form shadedprotection to outdoor terraced staircase in between. These stairs act as a traditional Italian street in between these new building volumes: Hotel with Cafe & Spacious 3 floors high cascaded artist‘s studio. This project was developed according to official architectural competition brief.
